Armenia must guarantee its security itself, but not only with soldiers and army, but also with the policy it conducts, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said during Q&A session at the National Assembly.
The Prime Minister assured that the Armenian government is carrying out a balancing and balanced foreign policy.
Referring to the region, Pashinyan reminded that Armenia’s decision to participate in the 3+3 format was widely criticized at the time. “But I can now assert that it was a right decision to participate in the discussions on the 3+3 platform. And this marks the regional dimension of our foreign policy,” the Prime Minister said.
On relations with Iran, PM Pashinyan noted that these relations are “natural.” “These relations are not the result and consequence of a political decision. Political decision is the result of “normality.” The same can be said about our relations with Georgia,” he noted.
The Prime Minister added that the government’s policies are also aimed at normalizing relations with Turkey and Azerbaijan. He noted that peace and normal relations with neighbors are the sole guarantee of security.
“There is much talk about external guarantees. We must not believe in it at least after everything that happened. We must guarantee our security by ourselves, not only with soldiers and the army, but also with our politics, our economy, our socio-psychology, our words, our ability not to give in to provocations,” Pashinyan stressed.
The Prime Minister said the foreign policy is on the right track. “We do not reject any relationship in any direction, but the developments in certain directions are more active,” he added.
