Armenian Embassy in Germany hosts reception on 33rd anniversary of independence
On the occasion of the 33rd anniversary of the independence of the Republic of Armenia, a reception was held at the Embassy of the Republic of Armenia, attended by representatives of various Ministries of the Federal Government, the Bundestag, business, scientific, public and diplomatic circles.
During the event, the Ambassador of the Republic of Armenia, Mr. Viktor Yengibaryan, and the Minister of Food and Agriculture of the Federal Republic of Germany, Mr. Cem Özdemir, delivered opening speeches.
Ambassador Yengibaryan addressed the foreign policy priorities of the Republic of Armenia, security agenda issues and economic opportunities. The Ambassador emphasized: “We consider regional peace, the rule of international law, democracy, fundamental human freedoms and our integration into regional and international structures to be the basis of our independence,” Ambassador Yengibaryan said, reiterating Armenia’s commitment to international law.
Federal Minister Özdemir encouraged Armenia’s efforts to move closer to the EU and welcomed the “Crossroads of Peace” initiative of the Government of the Republic of Armenia.
“The project is much more than an infrastructure and economic development project. It aims to build bridges and strengthen ties in the region. In the literal sense, but also in the sense of exchange between people, companies and state institutions. Such projects give hope for a peaceful future in the region and they deserve to be supported!” the Minister said.
During the reception, the anthems of Armenia, Germany and Europe were performed by Ms. Ani Aghabekyan (violin), Mr. Daniel Bollinger (clarinet), Mr. Stefano Macor (viola) and Mr. Kirill Timofeev (cello).
