In Armenia, Russian Deputy PM visits flood affected section of the railway

On September 14, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexey Overchuk visited the Lori region of Armenia, where he followed the restoration of the railway infrastructure destroyed by floods in late May, informs the “South Caucasian Railway” company.

He was accompanied by representatives of the management of “Russian Railways” and “South Caucasian Railway” companies.

Alexey Overchuk took a train from Vanadzor to Akhtala station, where the railway was destroyed by flood in six sections. During the stop he got acquainted with the technology and extent of restoration works.

This section of the railway is the only branch connecting the railway network of Armenia with the outside world. Specialis of the company were joined by colleagues from “Russian Railways” and “Georgian Railways” to restore the section. Since the restoration of traffic, the South Caucasus Railyaw has transported 425,000 tons of cargo.
