Amb. Aznavour hosts a reception on 23rd anniversary of Armenia’s independence

On October 6 Charles Aznavour, Armenia’s Ambassador to Switzerland and Permanent Representative at the UN Geneva Office, hosted a reception dedicated to the 23rd anniversary of independence of the Republic of Armenia.

Present at the event were representatives of the federal and regional authorities of Switzerland and the Geneva City Hall, heads of international organizations and a number of diplomatic representations accredited to Geneva, Swiss Armenians.

Ambassador Aznavour noted in his speech that twenty-three years are a small period for a country and people with a history of millennia, but the twenty-three years of Armenia’s independence mark a very important period on the long historic path of the Armenian nation.

The Ambassador expressed gratitude to all UN agencies in Geneva, the federal and regional authorities of Switzerland and all friends for the ongoing support to Armenia ever since independence.

During the event a quartet of Armenian and Swiss musicians performed the national anthems of Armenia and Switzerland, as well as works by Aram Khachaturian, Komitas and other Armenian composers.
