The “Wikimedia-Armenia” scientific-cultural NGO summed up today the achievements of the passing year and outlined the programs for 2014.

The number of articles in Armenian Wikipedia has crossed the threshold of 100 thousand, and this is truly the most significant achievement of the year.

The author of the 100.000th article is Artashes Tadevosyan. The piece tells about the Statue to a Karabakh Woman in Yerevan.

“Wikimedia-Armenia” was established in 2013 by a group of active Wikipedia editors. The NGO has implemented a number of programs during the short period of its existence and has prepared even a wider framework of actions aimed at promoting the development of the Armenian Wikipedia and other –Wiki-projects for next year.

The programs of “Wikimedia-Armenia” are not restricted to capital Yerevan only. The NGO has implemented a number of programs in Gyumri, Vanadzor, Shushi, Goris and Gavar and has established cooperation with different countries.

“Wikimedia-Armenia” attaches great importance to the development of professional articles on the Armenian web space.  For that purpose it will organize special courses on chemistry, physics, mathematics, biology and others in January 2014.

The NGO plans to organize a camp, where all active participants will get professional advice on how to improve their articles.

The best contributors to the development of Armenian Wikipedia will have a chance to travel to London in 2014 to participate in the “Wikimania” annual international Wiki-conference.
