Erik Haas, the firm’s vice president of litigation said on Monday that the allegations are “meritless” and that J&J was willing to settle in order to finally resolve the matter.

The ICC’s member states voted on Friday to oust the British prosecutor in an unprecedented move that concludes a damaging episode for the court two years after the allegations were first raised.

According to sources familiar with the result, 82 of the court’s 125 member states voted in favour of removing Khan at a special meeting at the UN’s headquarters in New York.

The vote follows a drawn-out disciplinary process that examined the abuse allegations, which were made by a woman who worked for Khan at the ICC.

The Commission argued Google’s practices limited consumer choice and gave its own services an unfair advantage over rivals.

But the firm criticised the decision, arguing the EU’s requirements could damage services used by millions of European customers.

The duties, ranging from 10% to 12.5% and accounting for the vast majority of American imports, target key economic partners over claims they have failed to properly tackle forced labour – including the UK, China, the European Union, Canada, Japan and India.

They mark the latest escalation in the global trade war reignited by US President Donald Trump when he returned to office last year.
