Armenian diplomatic missions in the United Arab Emirates have organized the transfer of Armenian citizens wishing to return home from Abu Dhabi and Dubai to Muscat Airport in Oman, the Armenian Foreign Ministry said.
Armenian diplomatic services in the UAE earlier collected data on citizens willing to travel to Oman and arranged free bus transportation from Abu Dhabi and Dubai to Muscat.
According to the ministry, 94 Armenian citizens were transported on March 4, 58 on March 5, and 38 on March 6.
In total, over the three-day period, transportation was arranged for 70 citizens from Abu Dhabi and 120 from Dubai — 190 Armenian citizens in total — to reach Muscat.
Local authorities in Dubai also provided police escort for the organized transfers. Some citizens who had registered for the transportation chose to remain in Dubai at the time and were therefore not included in the transfers.
The ministry said Armenian diplomatic missions in the UAE have so far collected the details of all 170 Armenian citizens currently in the country and remain in contact with them individually or in groups. The number includes 30 Armenian students currently in Abu Dhabi.
The Consulate General of Armenia in Dubai has also been involved in addressing issues faced by some citizens who missed their flights through no fault of their own and encountered difficulties with certain hotels. Relevant information has been provided to the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs through appropriate channels.
