Russia’s consumer safety watchdog, Rospotrebnadzor, has ordered the suspension of sales of 64.5 million bottles of Jermuk mineral water across the country after detecting violations of technical regulations, the agency announced, TASS reports.
According to a statement released by the regulator, an additional directive was sent to the operator of Russia’s state product labeling system, “Chestny Znak,” to halt the sale of natural carbonated medicinal table mineral water produced by Armenia-based Jermuk Group CJSC.
The ban on new batches of the product took effect on May 28, 2026, and will remain in force until further notice.
Rospotrebnadzor said laboratory tests revealed elevated levels of bicarbonate ions, chlorides, and sulfates in the water, exceeding the parameters established by technical regulations.
The agency stated that the identified discrepancies could mislead consumers regarding the product’s therapeutic properties and potentially have adverse health effects.
