Armenia welcomes Türkiye’s move to lift restrictions on bilateral trade

Armenia has welcomed Türkiye’s decision to remove restrictions on bilateral trade with Armenia, describing it as another important outcome of the ongoing normalization process between the two countries.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, Armenian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Ani Badalyan said Yerevan views the move as a significant step toward expanding trade and business ties between Armenia and Türkiye.

“We welcome Türkiye’s decision to lift restrictions on bilateral trade with Armenia, which is another result of the process of normalization of relations between Armenia and Türkiye,” Badalyan said.

According to the spokesperson, the decision is important for strengthening commercial relations between the two countries, promoting regional economic connectivity, and contributing to peace and prosperity in the region.

Badalyan also stressed that the move represents an important step toward the establishment of full and normal relations between Armenia and Türkiye.

She added that the process could logically continue through the opening of the Armenia-Türkiye border and the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two neighboring countries.
