The Central Electoral Commission has confirmed the validity of the number of signatures required by the legislation submitted by the Eurovote initiative on the launch of the process of Armenia’s accession to the European Union.
The Central Electoral Commission used technical and software tools to verify the validity of the signatures, including comparing the data on the signed forms with the information available in to state and local self-government bodies. The process was monitored by the representatives of the initiative. The number of valid signatures amounted to 52,351.
According to the Armenian Constitutional Law on Referendum, a minimum of 50,000 valid signatures is required for the initiative group to have the opportunity to submit a draft law to the parliament.
