Relations between Armenia and CSTO have crossed the ‘point of no return’ – PM

Relations between Armenia and the CSTO have crossed the ‘point of no return,’ Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said during a Q&A session at the National Assembly.

He said Armenia is not interested in the documents adopted within the CSTO. “We have said we are freezing our participation in the CSTO, which means that we are not participating in the discussion of any document. We simply do not veto any document, because, in fact, we see ourselves outside the CSTO, let them do whatever they want. This situation makes Armenia’s return to the CSTO increasingly difficult, if not impossible. I think that here we have crossed the point of no return,” he noted.

Pashinyan also reacted to Russian President Vladimir Putin’s recent statement that “events in Nagorno Karabakh had nothing to do with CSTO and that “there was no direct aggression against Armenia.”

The Armenian Prime Minister said Yerevan froze its participation not because of Nagorno-Karabakh, but because of the lack of an appropriate response to external aggression on the borders of sovereign Armenia in 2021 and 2022.
