Armenia, Hungary hold first political consultations after restoration of diplomatic relations

The Foreign Ministries of Armenia and Hungary held the first political consultations since the restoration of diplomatic relations.

The Armenian side was represented at the consultations by Deputy Foreign Minister of Armenia Paruyr Hovhannisyan, and the Hungarian side by State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Hungary Peter Staraj.

The parties exchanged views on the possibilities for further development of the bilateral agenda, as well as regional issues, and emphasized the need to expand the bilateral legal framework, and to intensify ties in trade and economic, cultural, educational, tourism, and other areas.

During the meeting, a detailed discussion was held on the efforts aimed at deepening Armenia’s partnership with the EU and, in particular, on issues of cooperation with Hungarian partners in this direction.

Deputy Minister Paruyr Hovhannisyan also touched upon the steps taken by the Republic of Armenia towards establishing peace in the South Caucasus, the recent discussions in the process of normalization of the Armenia-Azerbaijan relations, and presented the Crossroads of Peace project developed by the Government of the Republic of Armenia.
