More than 1 billion drams ($2.5 million) were spent on the renovation of the Margara checkpoint on the Armenian-Turkish border, Rustam Badasyan, Chairman of the State Revenue Committee, said at a briefing with journalists today.
“We initially planned 800 million drams, but the final expenses amounted to a little more than 1 billion MD,” Badasyan said.
The Chairman of the State Revenue Committee reminded that an agreement was reached between the parties on opening the Armenia-Turkey border to citizens of third countries and diplomatic passport holders, after which renovation works were carried out at the Margara checkpoint.
“The conditions created are sufficient to serve the flow of people of the mentioned groups,” Badasyan concluded.
