Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei said on Saturday, November 2, that Israel, as well as the United States, will “receive a crushing response” for what they do against his country, Reuetrs reports.
He made the comments to students ahead of the anniversary of the 1979 seizure of the U.S. embassy in Tehran by hardline students shortly after the Islamic revolution that ousted the U.S.-backed Shah.
On Friday, November 1, an advisor to Khamenei said that Tehran was likely to increase the range of its ballistic missiles and possibly review its nuclear doctrine, amid growing tensions with arch-enemy Israel and tit-for-tat missile and airstrikes.
The advisor noted that although Iran has the technical capability to produce nuclear weapons, it was currently held back by a religious decree issued in the early 2000s.
