
Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan had a meeting with Volker Türk, the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights on the sidelines of the 79th session of the UN General Assembly.
During the meeting, issues of continuous cooperation between Armenia and the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights were discussed.
The parties emphasized the importance of the Office’s involvement in the protection of human rights on the path towards establishment of lasting peace in the region.
The measures undertaken by the Government of Armenia to address the needs of the forcibly displaced Armenian population from Nagorno-Karabakh and the cooperation formed with international partners to this end were touched upon.
Ararat Mirzoyan reiterated Armenia’s vision for achieving lasting peace and stability in the region, including efforts towards normalization of Armenia-Azerbaijan relations, as well as Armenia’s approaches to key issues.
