100 Years of Aznavour: Symphonic concert in Paris to bring together 80 musicians

For the 100th anniversary of the birth of Charles Aznavour, the Lamoureux Orchestra and a plethora of artists such as Oxmo Puccino, Zaz, and Charlie Winston will revisit the repertoire of the “Great Charles” on November 21 and 23 at the Palais des Congrès.

Charles Aznavour, the “Great Charles” for his devoted fans, would have turned 100 on May 22, 2024. To pay tribute to him, Mischa Aznavour, his son, supported by his family, has decided to dedicate two symphonic concerts to his memory.

This musical event will bring together about 80 singers and artists, admirers of the talent of Charles Aznavourian, his original surname, who became a symbol of the friendship between France and Armenia.

The Lamoureux Orchestra, following the advice of the Aznavour Foundation, has chosen to revisit some of his most beautiful songs. Contemporary singers and rappers like Oxmo Puccino—who has already reinterpreted Jacques Brel—Zaz, Yael Naïm, Charlie Winston, will participate in the concert.

Zaz, delighted to sing Aznavour’s repertoire, has already written on Instagram: “I am so proud to be able to participate in this beautiful project.”

To make this tribute as vibrant and nostalgic as possible, it was essential that a man who had accompanied the Great Charles on stage be present at the Palais des Congrès. This artist will be the pianist Erik Berchot, who accompanied the French-Armenian singer on a journey around the world. Together, they visited Egypt, Portugal, Canada, the United States, and Russia.
