Armenian Government okays ratification of Regulation on joint activity of border commissions

The Armenian Government has approved the ratification of the Regulation on joint activity of the commissions on delimitation and border security signed between Armenia and Azerbaijan.

The regulation will now be forwarded to the Constitutional Court to check its compliance with the Constitution before being submitted to parliament for ratification.

Deputy Prime Minister Mher Grigoryan will represent the Government at the Constitutional Court.

The Armenian Foreign Ministry announced the signing of the Regulation on August 30.

The Regulations states that the commissions will rely on the Alma-Ata Declaration as a fundamental principle of the process of delimitation of the state border between the two countries.

The Regulation implies organization of border demarcation works and adoption of relevant documents, preparation of the state border crossing protocol-description and guidelines for creation of delimitation maps.
