Armenia’s Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Greece Tigran Mkrtchyan met with Theodora Bakoyannis, Chair of the Greek Parliament’s Standing Committee on National Defense and Foreign Relations.
Ambassador Mkrtchyan emphasized the excellent level of Armenian-Greek relations and highlighted the role of parliamentary diplomacy in the context of promoting bilateral cooperation.
The briefed Theodora Bakoyannis on the ongoing negotiations on the Armenia-Azerbaijan peace treaty, the border demarcation process and the need to implement it in accordance with the Alma-Ata declaration, the steps taken against the Armenian cultural heritage in Nagorno-Karabakh and the imperative to release the Armenian prisoners of war and other detained persons in Azerbaijan.
In turn, Mrs. Bakoyan thanked the Armenian Ambassador for the visit and referred to the importance of inter-parliamentary contacts in promoting multilateral cooperation between the two friendly countries.
The Ambassador presented the latest developments in Armenia and the region. A number of measures aimed at intensifying the bilateral parliamentary ties were discussed.
