Armenia will officially celebrate Father’s Day. The National Assembly’s Standing Committee on State and Legal Issues gave a green light to the draft law during its sitting on September 3.
The project envisages making amendments to the Law on Holidays and Memorial Days of the Republic of Armenia and establishing June 17 as Father’s Day.
Commenting on the choice of the date, author of the bill, MP Zaruhi Batoyan noted that the experience of a number of countries has been taken into account, emphasizing that the US, Mexico, India, and Japan celebrate Father’s Day on the third Sunday of June. The MP stressed that the date is up for discussion.
Presenting the positive position of the government, Deputy Minister of Justice Armenuhi Harutyunyan noted that ethnographers can be consulted on the choice of the day.
