In his first attempt, Karapetyan successfully lifted the 180 kg barbell. For the second attempt, Pashik Alaverdyan requested 186 kg, but Karapetyan failed. For the third attempt, the Armenian coaching team did not change the weight, and Garik Karapetyan approached the 186 kg barbell again and successfully lifted it.
