The Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Armenia Mehdi Sobhani has denied the reports on secret arms deal between Tehran and Yerevan.
Sobhani said the news has been disseminated by “unreliable media, which have previously spread false information and malicious analyzes about the Islamic Republic of Iran.”
According to Sobhani, the such publications aim at affecting the development of friendly relations between Iran and the countries of the region. He emphasized that the Islamic Republic of Iran supports the establishment of peace and stability in the Caucasus region, as well as economic development.
On Monday the Armenian Defense Ministry labeled the rumors claiming that Armenia has signed a $500 million arms deal with Iran as “imaginary, invented content.”
The comments come after Iran International website claimed Iran and Armenia had signed a major arms deal worth $500 million.
