US Under Secretary of State Uzra Zeya visited the Armenian Genocide Memorial on July 14, accompanied by US Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Armenia Christina Quinn.

The guests were welcomed by the director of the Armenian Genocide Museum-Institute, Edita Gzoyan. She accompanied the guests to the Armenian Genocide Memorial, presenting the history of the creation of the memorial.

Ms. Zeya laid a wreath at the monument commemorating the victims of the Armenian Genocide, then the guests placed flowers near the eternal fire and honored the memory of the innocent victims of the Armenian Genocide with a minute of silence.

Edita Gzoyan, the director of AGMI, accompanied the guests from the USA to Hushapat, in the back of which, in special niches, a number of foreign public and political figures who raised their voice of protest against the mass massacres of Armenians carried out by the Turkish government in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, and the genocide are summarized in special niches. , small jars full of soil taken from the graves of intellectuals and missionaries. Talking about the pro-Armenian activities of Henry Morgenthau and Clara Burton, she emphasized that thanks to their work, the American public was well aware of the massacres of Armenians in the Ottoman Empire, and that the recognition of the Armenian Genocide by the USA was also a tribute to the memory of those people. The director of AGMI also presented the history of the Park of Remembrance to the guests and noted that the first tree was planted by US Senator Robert Dole in 1997, in memory of Armenian Genocide survivor, American-Armenian surgeon Hambar Kelekyan.

The members of the delegation also visited the Armenian Genocide Museum, got acquainted with the permanent and temporary exhibitions. Mrs. Uzra Zeya also made a note in the memorial book of Honorary guests.
