The Permanent Representative of Armenia to UNESCO handed over his credentials to the Director General

On July 10, Aram Hakobyan, the Permanent Representative of the Republic of Armenia to UNESCO, presented his credentials to UNESCO Director General Audrey Azoulay.

During the private conversation following the ceremony, the interlocutors discussed the prospects of expanding cooperation between UNESCO and Armenia, as well as a number of issues related to the Organization’s priorities. The permanent representative of the Republic of Armenia reaffirmed the readiness to make continuous efforts towards the implementation of the commitments undertaken by Armenia within the framework of the membership of the UNESCO Executive Board and the implementation of the program priorities of the Organization.

Referring to the initiatives implemented by UNESCO in the direction of the protection of cultural heritage, the permanent representative of RA drew the attention of the Director General to the threats to the historical and cultural heritage of Nagorno Karabakh and emphasized the importance of the active steps expected from UNESCO in addressing them.

Director General of UNESCO, Audrey Azoulay, congratulated the permanent representative of RA on his assumption of office, wishing him success in the implementation of his responsible mission.
