Levon Amirjanyan appointed as representative of the International Organization of Francophonie in the Middle East

The Secretary General of La Francophonie, Mrs. Louise Mushikiwabohas appointed three new representatives of the International Organization of La Francophonie.

Ms. Nefertiti Tshibanda (Democratic Republic of Congo) has been appointed OIF Representative to the African Union in Addis Ababa.

Mr. Ambassador Edgar Doerig (Switzerland) has been appointed OIF Representative for Asia Pacific (seat in Hanoi).

Mr. Lévon Amirjanyan (Armenia) has been appointed OIF Representative for the Middle East (seat in Beirut)

Ms. Zahra Kamil Ali (Djibouti), previously OIF Representative to the African Union is appointed OIF Representative for North America (Quebec)

“These high-level appointments, made with respect for gender balance and geographical diversity, further strengthen the strategy aimed at developing the influence of the OIF on the international scene. They are part of the profound transformation and modernization undertaken by the Secretary General of La Francophonie since her arrival at the head of the Organization in 2019,” the organization said.

“They also reflect the importance she attaches to the quality of cooperation with member states and governments and with partner intergovernmental organizations, for more concrete results on the ground for the benefit of populations,” it added.

To date, the external network of the OIF has 4 representations with international organizations: United Nations (New York and Geneva), European Union (Brussels) and African Union (Addis Ababa) and 9 representations with major French-speaking regions: Asia-Pacific (Hanoi), Central and Eastern Europe (Bucharest), Indian Ocean (Antananarivo), Central Africa (Libreville), West Africa (Lomé), North Africa (Tunis), Caribbean – Latin America (Port-au-Prince), Middle East (Beirut) and North America (Quebec).
