Archbishop Aram Ateshian, Chairman of the Religious Assembly of the Armenian Patriarchate of Constantinople, has wished success to newly-elected Patriarch, Bishop Sahak Mashalian.
Although the official results of voting are yet to be announced, the first round of election leaves no doubt Bishop Sahak Mashalian is going to be elected the 85th Armenian Patriarch of Constantinople.
Archbishop Ateshian took to Facebook to sincerely congratulated the newly-elected Patriarch and wish him every success.
“As the eldest member of the clergy, I wish that unity and brotherhood is re-established inside the national religious life of the Turkish Armenian community,” Aram Ateshian wrote.
“It is our prayer that a new flourishing period would open before this age-old Patriarchate and that its mission would be enriched with new achievements for the benefit of our Holy Church and our dear people,” he continued.
