Armenian’s anti-smoking Parliament passes anti-smoking legislation at first reading

The Armenian National Assembly voted 83 to 15 to today to pass the draft on the reduction and prevention of damage to health caused by the use of tobacco products and their substitutes at first reading.

If passed, the legislation will ban smoking in closed areas.  Restrictions will be imposed on smoking in public transport, children’s playgrounds, as well as at healthcare, educational, and cultural institutions.

Certain regulations are also envisaged for the sale of tobacco and restriction of promotion and advertising of tobacco products.
