Opera diva Asmik Grigorian honored with Lithuanian Ministry of Culture Award

The Lithuanian Ministry of Culture has handed a special award to Lithuanian-Armenian soprano Asmik Grigorian.

Minister of Culture Mindaugas Kvietkauskas presented opera diva Asmik Grigorian with the Ministry of Culture Prize for her contribution to the development of the field of culture.

“This award reflects not only your great talent but also the continuation of a great tradition. It is a tradition that was represented by your parents, educators and the whole musical culture of Lithuania. I am delighted that you have made Lithuania known for your roles in the world’s biggest scenes,” said the Minister of Culture.

“I wish that your voice would be heard on new world scenes to please the Lithuanian audience, which is always waiting for your performances,” he continued.

Asmik Grigorian is a long-time soloist of Vilnius City Opera.

She is the recipient of the highest Lithuanian theatre award, the Golden Stage Cross twice, in 2005 and 2010.

In May 2016, Grigorian was honored at the International Opera Awards in London as the Best Newcomer (“Young Female Singer”).

She was honored with the Order for Merits to Lithuania, Knight’s Cross (2018) and was named Best female singer at International Opera Awards 2019.
