Armenia beat Azerbaijan in European Team Chess Championship

The Armenian chess team beat Azerbaijan 2.5-1.5 in Round 8 of the European Team Championship under way in Georgia’s capital Tbilisi.

Armenia’s leading GM Levon Aronian shared a point with Shakhriyar Mamedyarov. Gabriel Sarkissian and Hrant Melkumyan also ended their games in a draw, while Arman Pashikyan led the team to an impressive victory.

With 11 points, Armenia currently shares the 4th place with Germany and Croatia. Ukraine and Russia are leaders of the tournaments with 13 points each. England is 3rd with 12 points.
