Syria moves troops toward Turkish offensive

Syrian military units have begun moving north to confront a Turkish offensive on Syrian territory, the official SANA news agency reported.

In a piece for the Foreign Policy, the Kurds’ commander in chief Mazloum Abdi explained why his forces are finally ready to partner with Assad and Putin.

“We do not trust their promises. To be honest, it is hard to know whom to trust,” he wrote.

“But if we have to choose between compromises and the genocide of our people, we will surely choose life for our people,” Absi added.

According to the UK-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR), a deal has been reached through which Syrian government forces will protect the Kurdish-held towns of Kobani and Manbij.
