Armenian Parliament votes to terminate powers of Constitutional Court judge

The Armenian National Assembly voted 98 to 1 today to call for termination of powers of Hrayr Tovmasyan, member (judge) of the Constitutional Court.

The draft decision adopted by a secret ballot will now be forwarded to the Constitutional Court.

A total of 101 MPs participated in the voting, two ballot were declared invalid, counting commission chair Vahagn Hovakimyan said.

Speaker Ararat Mirzoyan declared the decision adopted. The draft required the votes of at least 3/5 of the total number of MPs.

The Prosperous Armenia Party faction had earlier withdrawn from the vote.
