Armenia’s ex-President Robert Kocharyan to remain in custody

Armena’s second President Robert Kocharyan will remain in custody.

A court in Yerevan rejected the lawyers’ appeal to release him on the basis of the Constitutional Court’s decision dated September 4.  

Robert Kochayan and other convicts in the case were present at the sitting.

Robert Kocharyan is charged with overthrowing constitutional order in March 2008 following a presidential election. At least ten people were killed in clashes between police and protesters on March 1, 2008.
