Situation calm at Artsakh-Azerbaijan line of contact, Army chief says

The situation has recently been calm at the line of contact between the armed forces of Artsakh and Azerbaijan, Artsakh’s Defense Minister, Lieutenant General Levon Mnatsakanyan told Public Radio of Armenia.

“The analysis of the situation of the past week shows that this will be the case in the near future.  Even when ceasefire violations happen, only firearms are used,” Levon Mnatsakanyan said, adding that no shots from large-caliber weapons have been reported.

Referring to the Law on the Status of Servicemen and Military Service, the Defense Minister noted that “the defense of the country should be in the first place, all other things are derivative.”

“No matter how many scientists there are in the country, if the country is unprotected,” Mnatsakanyan added.
