At least 135 killed in Iran-Iraq quake felt in Armenia

A 7.3-magnitude earthquake has rattled thenorthern border region between Iran and Iraq, killing at least 135 people and injuring hundreds more, the BBC reports.

At least 129 people died in western Iran’s Kermanshah province, officials told state media.

Six more were reported dead in Iraq. The death toll is likely to rise.

Mosques in the Iraqi capital Baghdad have been broadcasting prayers through loudspeakers.

The aftershocks were felt in Armenia, the National Survey for Seismic Protection said.
