Russia welcomes the willingness of Armenia and Azerbaijan to intensify the negotiations on Nagorno Karabakh conflict settlement, Russian Foreign Ministry’s Spokesperson Maria Zakharova told reporters today.
“We welcome the willingness of the parties to intensify the negotiation process and undertake additional steps to reduce tensions at the line of contact,” she noted.
“We support the efforts of the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs, who are working on organizing a new meeting between the Foreign Ministers of Armenia and Azerbaijan to discuss the essential issues of conflict settlement and the ways of stabilizing the situation,” she said.
At the same time, Maria Zakharova said she regrets that “the state of affairs in the region remains complex.”
“We urge Baku and Yerevan to demonstrate a constructive approach to find solutions to unresolved questions,” she stated.
