Youri Djorkaeff awarded Armenia’s Medal of Gratitude

Former France international Youri Djorkaeff has been awarded the Medal of Gratitude of the Republic of Armenia.

Djorkaeff was born to Kalmyk-Polish father Jean Djorkaeff and an Armenian mother Mary Ohanian in Lyon.

With the French national team, Djorkaeff won the 1998 FIFA World Cup and Euro 2000. He currently runs the Youri Djorkaeff Foundation, a non-profit dedicated to providing football programs in New York City.

The Medal of Gratitude is awarded for state, economic, social, scientific-technical and public activities, as well as for major personal contribution, many years’ devotion and fruitful activities aimed at promoting the spheres of health, education and culture.
