Armenian temple in Aleppo to be restored

An Armenian temple in Aleppo’s Christian district will be restored. The temple was popular among pilgrims and tourists before war broke out in Syrian, Russian NTV reports.

Although the temple belongs to the Armenian Apostolic Church, Orthodox Christians from Ukraine, Russia and Belarus used to visit the church to pray and light candles.

Built in the 15th century, the shrine has survived a number of wars, and has been restored every time thanks to efforts of world-spread Armenians.

The church has not been functioning after the liberation of Aleppo, but Armenians worldwide are raising funds to restore one of the most beautiful Christian temples in the world.

The restoration works are expected to start next week.
