CSTO in talks to participate in UN peacekeeping operations

The Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) is working on practical issues to complete a mandate to participate in the UN peacekeeping operations on the territory of third countries, CSTO Secretary General Yuri Khachaturov told TASS.

According to him, the CSTO has its own peacekeeping force with about 3,5 thousand troops meant for peacemaking operations not only on the territories of member states, but also third countries under a UN mandate.

“We are currently working with the UN on practical issues connected with a legal mandate of using the CSTO peacekeeping contingent in UN peacekeeping operations,” Khachaturov said.
