Azeri actions against Artsakh resemble ISIS atrocities

International press compares the actions of Azerbaijan forces in Artsakh to the atrocities done by ISIS.

The involvement of the members of ISIS in Azerbaijan  and their participation in the clashes along the Nagorno Karabakh line of contact has become a matter of discussion and great concern in different international media sources.

The Italian Spondasud.it website finds similarities between actions of Azerbaijan against Nagorno Karabakh and the atrocities of ISIS in Syria and Iraq. The Italian website stresses that beheading people or cutting their ears is typical of terrorists, and something members of ISIS tend to boast about.

The cruel death of a soldier of Yezidi decent and the publication of photos and a video of his beheading have also sparked fury. In comments to the article published by Ezidipress.com readers  stress that Azerbaijan is not that different from ISIS. Most users label the actions of Azerbaijan military forces as “war crimes.” Azerbaijani users participating in the discussion also accept the atrocities commited by Azeri soldier, but stress that everything is allowed during war.

ISNA agency also confirms the fact of  ISIS members fighting against Karabakh. “100 Azerbaijani solders who are members of ISIS, have returned to their home country from Syria in order to participate in the war against Nagorno Karabakh,” the website writes, adding that the’re returning to Azerbaijan through Turkey.

In this context, reports in Azerbaijan media that Turkish special subdivision have arrived in Azerbaijan in a helicopter to move the bodies of the fellow soldiers to Turkey, is crutially important.

According to estimates, there are nearly 3,000 Azeris involved in Islamic State.
