Fresno State to host Armenian Genocide conference

Fresno State’s Armenian Studies program will host an international conference on the Armenian Genocide at the university’s campus on Friday and Saturday, the Fresno Bee reports.

The conference, which is free, is titled “Empire, Politics, and War: The Armenian Genocide within the Context of the Ottoman Empire” and will host scholars from around the world.

Friday features presentation by Varak Ketsamanian of the University of Chicago, Anna Aleksanyan of Clark University in Massachusetts and Yektan Turkyilmaz of Berlin’s Zentrum Moderner Orient.

On Saturday, the conference reconvenes with presentations in the Whitten Room of the Fresno State Smittcamp Alumni House.

After a presentation by Fresno State’s Sergio La Porta, Yaşar Tolga Cora of the University of Chicago, Barlow Der Mugrdechian of Fresno State and Ümit Kurt of Clark University will host a panel discussion.
