Anniversaries of Ayvazovski’s birth and first printed Armenian Bible on UNESCO agenda
The 200th birth anniversary of Armenian painter Hovhannes Ayvazovski and the 350th anniversary of the first printed Armenian Bible will be put on UNESCO’s 2016-2017 agenda, Assistant Director-General of UNESCO Eric Falt has declared.
The application has been prepared by the Armenian Ministry Foreign Affairs. The nomination of Hovhannes Ayvazovski’s 200th birth anniversary has been supported by Russia and Italy.
The nomination of the 350th anniversary of the first printed Armenian Bible has been backed by France and the Netherlands.
According to the rules, the applications wll be submitted to the Executive Council and later the General Conference for final confirmation.
