Facebook has announced a new payment solution which allows users to send money to friends through Facebook Messenger, the Digital Journal reports.
The feature is rolling out to the US initially over the next few months and aims to give people a more convenient and secure way to send and receive money.
Users can send money straight away simply by tapping a new $ icon in a chat session with a friend, entering the amount they want to send and tapping pay before entering their debit card details.
The social network has reassured members that the solution is safe, and it has a team of anti-fraud specialists to monitor any suspicious purchase activity.
“Incorporating security best practices into our payments business has always been a top priority,” the company said in a blog post.
