Members of Congress to unveil Armenian Genocide Resolution today
On Wednesday, March 18, Reps. Robert Dold (R-IL), Adam Schiff (D-CA), David Valadao (R-CA), and Frank Pallone (D-NJ), as well as other Members of Congress and members of the Armenian community will unveil the Armenian Genocide Truth and Justice Resolution in front of the Capitol, reports the Armenian National Committee of America (ANCA).
This bipartisan resolution will call on President Obama to work toward equitable, constructive, and durable Armenian-Turkish relations based upon the Republic of Turkey’s full acknowledgement of the facts and ongoing consequences of the Armenian Genocide.
The resolution will also establish a fair, just, and comprehensive record on this international crime against humanity.
“We warmly welcome the pending bipartisan introduction of the Armenian Genocide Truth + Justice Resolution, a principled and practical new approach to promoting regional peace, protecting Armenia, and preventing future atrocities,” said Aram Hamparian, Executive Director of the ANCA.
“This justice-based initiative builds upon the U.S. record of Armenian Genocide recognition, calling for a new policy – one that both proudly reflects our America values and powerfully reinforces U.S. national interests in overcoming Turkey obstruction of a truthful, just, and comprehensive international resolution of this crime.”
