Sharmazanov hopes OSCE PA representatives will attend Genocide centennial events in April

Vice-Speaker of the Armenian National Assembly, head of the Armenian delegation to the CSTO Parliamentary Assembly Edward Sharmazanov met with Spencer Oliver, Secretary General of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly.

The interlocutors attached importance to the further cooperation between the Parliamentary Assemblies of CSTO and OSCE.

The parties discussed the situation in the South Caucasus and Ukraine, emphasizing the peaceful settlement of all conflicts, which is a key for reinforcement of international security.

Referring to the Karabakh conflict, Edward Sharmazanov noted that Armenia and Nagorno Karabakh stand for exceptionally peaceful resolution of the Karabakh conflict. He underlined that the issue should be solved within the framework of the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairmanship and added that Azerbaijan’s attempts of military resolution are unacceptable.

Speaking about the 100th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide, Sharmazanov voiced hope that representatives of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly will participate in commemoration events in Yerevan in April 2015.

At the end of the meeting the Vice-Speaker of the Armenian Parliament noted that the prevention of terrorism and all expressions of racism is urgent for international Parliamentary Assemblies on the 70th anniversary of the victory in the Great Patriotic War.
