A steel rebar form took shape at Fresno State Tuesday for a memorial that will commemorate the 100th anniversary of the Armenian genocide, the Fresno Bee reports.
It will be completed in time to mark the anniversary of the beginning of the genocide – April 24.
The groundbreaking ceremony for the monument was held on November 3, 2014.
Leaders of the Western Diocese of the Armenian Church and Armenian Genocide Centennial Committee, Fresno joined local politicians, Fresno State leaders and throngs of community members at the event.
