Tehran’s nuclear program is peaceful: Foreign Minister

Iran has no aim to create nuclear weapons and its nuclear program is peaceful, Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif told a press conference in Yerevan.

Zarif said after talks with Armenian Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian that Iran’s nuclear program is peaceful and the Islamic Republic has nothing to prove in this respect. “We have no aim to create nuclear weapons, and do not need to convince the international community of this.”

“Consensus on the main issue was reached within the framework of the Geneva agreements, and now the details are under discussion,” Zarif said.

Many countries need to understand that sanctions against Iran are not the best way to resolve problems, said the Foreign Minister. According to him, the language of sanctions with Iran is impossible.

The Iranian nuclear issue solution is near, the Minister said. The nuclear deal meets the interests of not only Iran, but also all countries of the region, Zarif said.
