Nine people died and nine others were wounded early on Thursday when a shell hit a tram stop in the city of Donetsk, a defense ministry spokesman of the self-proclaimed Donetsk people’s republic said, TASS reports.
According to preliminary data, the shelling, which occurred at around 8.30 a.m. local time (0530 GMT), came from a minibus with the use of mortars. As a result, a trolleybus and a car caught fire.
Doctors say 13 people were killed in the attack.
The shelling comes shortly after the foreign ministers Russia, Germany, Ukraine and France discussed steps in Berlin on Wednesday to reach progress in resolving the Ukrainian crisis.
