Suspect in Gyumri murder case pleads guilty

In a statement released today the Investigative Committee of the Republic of Armenia has disclosed details of the process of investigation of the case of murder of the Avetisyan family in Gyumri in January 12.

The criminal case has been launched under Article 104.2.1 of the Armenian Criminal Code (murder of two or more people).

The investigative group established at the Investigative Committee has taken all urgent measures to discover the criminal and disclose all circumstances of the crime, including inspection of the site of the crime, interrogation of more than 30 witnesses, conduct of a number of examinations. Other investigative, operational- reconnaissance measures have also been taken.

Investigators of the Committee brought charges against Permyakov under Article 104.2.1 of the Armenian Criminal Code against Valery Permyakov, which the latter accepted.

In response to some media publications, the Investigative Committee officially declares that the preliminary inquiry into the case is carried out by the Investigative Committee of the Republic of Armenia. The investigative and procedural actions are being carried out by the investigators of the Investigative Committee on the basis of the provisions of the Criminal Procedure Code of the Republic of Armenia.
