“The Russian border guards have detained Valery Permyakov, the Russian deserter suspected of killing a family of six in Gyumri, near the village of Bayandur,” Prosecutor of Shirak Province Raffi Aslanyan told GALA.
According to preliminary information, he was trying to cross the Armenian-Turkish border. The Prosecutor said Permyakov is currently held by Russians.
Representatives of regional and municipal authorities of Shirak, Police and special investigative groups have arrived in Bayandur.
As it was reported earlier, six of the seven-member family in Gyumri were killed early Monday. Six-month infant that survived the attack was hospitalized in a grave condition.
Investigative Committee officials said the suspect, Valery Permyakov, illegally left his unit in the morning. They said military boots with his initials had been found at the scene of the crime.
