In a statement released today the Armenian Ministry of Foreign Affairs strongly condemned the downing of the Mi-24 helicopter of the NKR Defense Army by Azerbaijani armed forces during a training flight.
“Before and after every high-level meeting targeted at the settlement of the Karbakh issue, Baku resorts to new provocations to frustrate the negotiation process and underine the efforts of Armenia and the international community aimed at solving the issue exceptionally in a peaceful way,” the Ministry said.
“The Azerbaijani side grossly violates the agreements on peaceful settlement reached at the most recent summit meeting in Paris,” the statement reads.
“This vicious provocation shows that Baku not only ignores the calls of the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs and the international community not to use force, to consoidate the ceasefire and reinforce the confidence-building measures, but also does the opposite, thus bearing full responsibility for the escalation of the situation,” the Armenian Foreign Ministry said.
Remind that on Wednesday afternoon the Azerbaijani armed forces downed an Armenian helicopter during a training flight near the line of contact between Azerbaijan and Karabakh, leaving the three pilots killed.
