Customs checkpoint between Armenia, Karabakh not planned

Russia does not plan to interfere with the work of the Armenian customs officials, Head of the Russian Federal Customs Service Andrey Belyaninov told a press conference today, Regnum reports. He was asked to comment on whether there would be a customs checkpoint between Armenia and Nagorno Karabakh.

“We are not planning that in the near future. I recently appointed a representative to Armenia. He will visit Armenia soon. He will most probably visit the border, but we are not planning to interfere with the work of the Armenian customs officials,” he said.

“The most important issue at this point is the issue of the working language. As it is known we are using Russian as the working language in Russia, Belarus and Kazakhstan, while  Armenian is used in Armenia,” Belyaninov said.
